Invitations
Guests are the lifeblood of a bash and it needs some cute, well made invitations to draw these precious people to your party. An invitation letter should always suit the theme of your party and with the occassion being Thanksgiving Day, it is suggested that you shape your party invitations in the form of a turkey, a cornucopia or a pumpkin. If pumpkin is what you chose, draw its outline on a piece of cardboard and cut it out. Using it as a template, make enough invitations for all the guests. Decorate the cut-outs, pasting attractive Thanksgiving stickers on their front side and writing your party details on their back side. Insert these into cream-coloured envelopes and send off to their recipients.

Decorations
A careful, thematic decoration goes a long way to ensure the success of your party. Cut out turkey, pumpkin, wheelbarrow and other Thanksgiving shapes out of cardboards, paint them as they should be and hang them across doorways, windows and furnitures. Stick some to your fences and glue some to the walls of your party venue. Hang balloons and a giant banner proclaiming "Welcome to the Smith's (or whatever your title is) Thanksgiving Party!" near the entrance to your driveway to mark your party spot. Hang paper streamers and balloons from the ceiling of your party zone. Strew thematic toys (toy pumpkins, small turkeys etc.) all over the carpet and around the party area. If your budget permits, purchase a Thanksgiving-themed tablecloth and some thematic placemats, with nature or Thanksgiving motifs, for your Thanksgiving party table decorations. Hook 5 to 10 pieces of long strings high above the walls across the room. Hang from them pumpkin or corn shapes cut out of coloured paper. If you like, place some 'bushy' potted plants in the corners of the party room or hall and also along the corridor.

Foods
Dinner time is the most awaited hour of any party. Prior to making the food arrangements, it is advisable that you make sure about the vegetarians and non-vegetarians in your guest list and make adequate provisions for them accordingly. A typical Thanksgiving dinner is incomplete without non-vegetarian cuisines like roasted turkey, turkey chowder, stuffed goose and baked ham. Vegetarian dishes traditionally include items like vegetable stew, sweet potatoes and lots of corn and pumpkin preparations served along with cranberry sauce, applesauce and garden salad. For desserts, you may arrange for pumpkin pies, sweet corn dishes or even ice-creams. Drinks for adults should be collectively decided on from before and there should also be drinks provisions for kids, such as hot cocoa or milk. Turn up the spirit of the celebrations by serving some nice little snacks to your guests at regular intervals.

Party Activities
Funfilled party games can truly add to the festive mood of your bash. If you don't believe, include all your guests into fun games like the traditional "Bobbing for Apples" or "Pass the Pumpkin" to the accompaniment of some nice music and watch how the events proceed. You can enhance the merriment by having first, second and third prizes for the winners of the games, be they kids or adults.

Costume
Get some nice costumes in advance for yourself and your family members for your Thanksgiving party. You can request your guests to come dressed in pilgrim outfits or even better, as gothic farmers. It will add to the party ambience and also provide for some lighthearted fun, as you will get to see those you know in a completely different way. You can also organize a costume contest and award a prize to the "best dressed person".
