Free 501 Darts Scorer with Double-Out Checkout Routes
Darty is a free browser-based darts scorer for 301, 501 and 701. Enter your three-dart total each turn and it tracks the remaining score, handles busts, confirms double-out finishes and shows checkout routes for every finishable score up to 170.
How Darty scores a leg
Darty takes one entry per turn: the total of all three darts. It subtracts that from your remaining score, passes the turn to the next player or team, and updates the checkout routes once you are on 170 or less. Because only the total is entered, Darty asks you to confirm the last dart was a double or the bullseye whenever a turn takes you to exactly zero.
Routes are ranked by convention, not by rule. For the full chart of every finish, see the darts checkout chart.
Double-out rules Darty enforces
- Double-out: the last dart of a leg must land in a double or the bullseye (50).
- Bust: going below zero, leaving exactly 1, or reaching zero without a double. The score returns to its value before the turn.
- Maximum turn: 180 (three treble 20s). Darty rejects anything higher.
- Impossible totals: 163, 166, 169, 172, 173, 175, 176, 178 and 179 can’t be scored with three darts.
- No-finish scores: 159, 162, 163, 165, 166, 168 and 169 can’t be checked out in three darts, so Darty shows “No finish” instead of routes.

Darts scoring FAQ
What is the highest checkout in darts?
The highest checkout is 170, thrown as treble 20, treble 20, then the bullseye. It is the only three-dart route to 170, and Darty shows it whenever your remaining score is 170.
Which scores can’t be checked out in three darts?
Seven scores of 170 or under have no three-dart finish: 159, 162, 163, 165, 166, 168 and 169. Anything above 170 also can’t be finished in one turn. When your remaining score is one of these, Darty shows “No finish” instead of listing routes.
Which totals can’t be scored with three darts?
Nine totals can’t be thrown with three darts: 163, 166, 169, 172, 173, 175, 176, 178 and 179. Darty rejects them when you enter a turn total, and it also rejects anything above 180.
What counts as a bust in double-out darts?
A turn is a bust if the score goes below zero, leaves exactly 1, or reaches zero without the last dart landing in a double or the bullseye. In every case the remaining score returns to what it was before that turn. Darty applies this automatically and asks you to confirm the double whenever a turn takes you to exactly zero.
Does Darty support teams and formats other than 501?
Yes. Darty scores 301, 501 and 701 legs, first to 1, 2, 3 or 5 legs, for up to six players or teams. In team mode each team lists its throwers and Darty rotates through them turn by turn.
Are the checkout routes the only way to finish?
No. Darty ranks routes by convention, and any listed route closes the leg. The main display shows the top three, and “All routes” lists every one- and two-dart finish plus the top 40 three-dart finishes.
Is Darty free, and does it save my match?
Darty is free and runs in your browser with no account. A match in progress is stored on your own device, so closing the tab or app doesn’t lose it. Ending the match or starting a new one clears it.
